The Lifeline Program® Enters 15th Year in Life Settlement Industry
Insurance Settlement Pioneer Growing in Changing Marketplace
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 18, 2003 -- The Lifeline Program® this month entered its 15th year in the life settlement industry by announcing that the company is growing rapidly in the face of an ever-changing insurance settlement marketplace.
The Lifeline Program was one of the first insurance settlement companies. It is one of a small handful of companies to have successfully made the transition from a viatical business model (for terminally ill patients only) to a life settlement model which focuses on the purchase of insurance policies from seniors. And the new industry continues to grow.
"The life settlement industry is growing into a multi-billion-dollar business," said Wm. Scott Page, president and CEO the Lifeline Program. "We have weathered the ups and downs, and right now business couldn't be much better."
Later this summer, the Lifeline Program will move to expanded office space in Fort Lauderdale including a new training center, and Page expects to expand his staff. The company's growth is attributable to increased awareness of life settlements in the United States, and the attractiveness of life settlement investments to overseas buyers.
"The industry is becoming more global everyday," said Page. "Investor confidence in Latin America and Asia is at an all-time high."
A life settlement is the sale of an existing life insurance policy (for more than the current cash surrender value) by an elderly or terminally ill policyholder. A settlement is a unique alternative to surrendering a policy or letting it lapse and can be offered on term, whole or universal life policies.
Founded in 1989, The Lifeline Program® is a trade name of Wm. Page & Associates, Inc., one of the oldest and largest providers of life insurance settlements in the United States. Based in Atlanta, GA, it has pioneered business practices in the secondary market for life insurance policies while promoting intelligent industry regulation. Award winning television actress Betty White serves as a spokesperson for the company in its informational videos, advertisements and Web site, effectively making her the most recognizable figure associated with life settlements. The Lifeline Program is also known for its work in creating new markets for life settlement investing abroad, and it serves as the exclusive provider for a major life settlement investment fund based in Europe.
